It’s very rare Ivanka Trump puts a fashion step wrong, but she according to Twitter users, Donald Trump’s daughter managed a bit of a faux pas at one of the biggest events of the year.

The 37-year-old is currently on a state visit to the UK with President Trump and the rest of the family, where she was pictured last night attending a state banquet with the Queen at Buckingham Palace.

However, while Ivanka may have thought her $17,000 Carolina Herrera powder blue gown hit the mark for the white tie affair, people on Twitter have savaged the mum for dressing ‘inappropriately’ and ‘too casual’.

The gown featured a stiff collar, three-quarter length sleeves with bow details on the end and a voluminous skirt.

“Ivanka’s dress gives the impression of a ‘50s housewife or secretary... does not appear to be appropriate for the occasion,” one person said.

“Usually #IvankaTrump slays the fashion. But her dress missed the mark. It came across as too casual,” another person said.

While she was being ridiculed online, Ivanka was dining at the palace banquet alongside Kate Middleton, who was dressed in a stunning, white Alexander McQueen gown, which she accessorised with the Cambridge Lover's Knot tiara and the Queen Mother's sapphire diamond earrings.

Ivanka’s step-mother, Melania, also stunned in a column white gown, with sheer paneling up the top.

The First Daughter took no interest in Twitter trolls, taking to her own Twitter account to post a photo with her dad, her sister Tiffany Trump and her sister-in-law, Lara Trump.

“A spectacular State Banquet hosted by Her Majesty The Queen at Buckingham Palace,” she said.

“Beyond wonderful to share this unforgettable evening with this crew.”
