Next year's Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) will take place in the Italian city of Turin, the organisers say.

The semi-finals will be held on May 10 and 12, followed by the final on May 14 in the PalaOlimpico arena in the northern city 150 kilometres west of Milan.

Several Italian cities including Rome, Milan and Florence had submitted their application for staging the contest but the European Broadcasting Union and the Italian public broadcaster Rai who organise the competition eventually opted for Turin.

Italy became the 2022 host country for the popular contest after the Italian rock band Maneskin won this year's edition.

The country has also held the ESC on two previous occasions, in Naples in 1965, and in Rome in 1991.
