The internet has likened Melania Trump's $4.2k designer coat to a 'bathrobe'
Melania Trump stepped out in a vibrant pink houndstooth coat while welcoming the Colombian president and his wife to the White House.
But some people on Twitter are saying that it looks as if she was planning on staying inside, because her outerwear resembles a bathrobe.
FLOTUS was hand-in-hand with her husband, President Trump, when she turned heads in the Fendi coat, which has since sold out.
While some are simply upset over the price (it’s estimated the designer coat costs upwards of $4,200 AUD), others are confused about the look.
Alas, it looks like she left the house in her bathrobe.

It is a waffle bathrobe to me. A very expensive one.

That was sarcasm, right? It looks like a bathrobe I had when I was 13. Is that real mink? They killed a mink to make that ugly AF garment?

Costs as much as an average American earns in a year.

Still, some people came to the first lady’s defence, saying the coat is an “elegant” choice.
This coat is more elegant than you’re entire closet – jealousy is truly an ugly green eyed monster

It likely won’t be the last time Melania steps out in a similar Fendi piece.
In November 2017, she wore a statement coat by the designer for the start of the first couple’s first official trip to Asia.
