Instant Pot with Air Fryer Lid next to cooked chicken on counter

For a while now, I’ve had a bad case of air fryer envy. My life does not include an air fryer: I'm short on counter space, and I wasn't sure about spending the money on something that may or may not be worth the hype. Still, whenever I'd see Instagram photos of great meals friends make in their air fryer, I'd wonder if I should take the leap. Then I'd look at my kitchen counter and sigh.

Instant Pot’s Air Fryer Lid, however, solved my problem. It turns the Instant Pot I already have into an air fryer! And it's on sale now for an incredible price at Amazon, down from $90 to just $50. With Amazon Prime, I got free shipping, of course. If you're not yet a member, sign up for a free 30-day trial here

Since the Air Fryer Lid just goes on top of the Instant Pot, it doesn’t take up counter space. The Lid also comes with a multi-level air fryer basket that fits perfectly inside the Instant Pot.

Using it is pretty easy. Simply place whatever needs frying — be it chicken wings or French fries — in the basket. Then instead of using the normal Instant Pot lid, secure the Air Fryer Lid on top. Plug the Lid into a power outlet as well. Select the Air Fryer button, your desired temperature, the cooking time, and then hit Start. In no time, you’ll then have delightfully crispy foods without the oily mess!

As air fryers are essentially just mini convection ovens, the Air Fryer Lid can also be used to dehydrate, broil, bake, roast or simply reheat. You can also use it to crisp up the top of your lasagna or mac and cheese.

So far, I've only used the air fryer function and it works pretty well! I’ve made chicken wings, chicken nuggets, cauliflower bites as well as French fries. The basket is rather small, so I couldn’t make big batches, but it’s perfect for whipping up the occasional snack.

My favorite part about the Air Fryer Lid is the cleanup. Not only do I not have to deal with a big vessel of dirty deep-frying oil, but I can just pop the inner pot and the frying basket in the dishwasher. As for the Lid itself, all it needs is a wipe with a damp cloth. Easy!

I should note that the Air Fryer Lid doesn’t fit all Instant Pots — it only accommodates the following models, in the 6-quart size: Duo, Duo Plus, Duo Nova, Duo Gourmet, Viva, Ultra and Lux. And it should only be used with stainless steel inner pots.

Bonus: The Lid is way cheaper than most full-on air fryers, which can often exceed $100. Right now, the Instant Pot Air Fryer Lid is 44 percent off. That’s an amazing bargain! If you already have an Instant Pot, the Lid is a super affordable way to enjoy the air fryer craze without sacrificing any precious counter space.
