Inside Donald and Melania Trump’s $2.5m wedding
It comes as little surprise that when Donald Trump and his third wife Melania (née Knauss) were planning their wedding, it was an over the top event.
The couple, who wed 15 years ago, spent a rumoured $US2.5 million on the bash with about $100,000 believed to have been spent on Melania's custom-designed Dior dress, which weighed almost 30kg! The cake alone was $US50,000.
The Dress
According to Vogue, who featured Melania on the cover in the dress, the gown featured 1500 diamonds and pearls and took over 500 hours to make.
RELATED
After the event, The New York Times revealed the dress "included 90 meters of white satin, [a] skirt so wide and voluminous that for the wedding supper [Melania] was to be seated on a bench".
The Venue
The ceremony took place at Bethesda-by-the-Sea Episcopal Church in Palm Beach, Florida with the publication revealing the word 'obey' was removed from the vows.
Following the ceremony, the Trumps and their guests returned to Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort for dinner and dancing in the ballroom.
The couple had the ballroom decked out with over 10,000 flowers, which were shipped from New York in a convoy of trucks.
The seven-tiered wedding cake mentioned above was around five feet tall and weighed a huge 88kg. It was decorated with 2000 hand-spun sugar flowers and in the end no one could actually eat it because it required so much rigging to keep it upright.
The Ring
Donald proposed in 2004 with an engagement ring from Graff, which is believed to be worth between $1m and $4m. The wedding ring is believed to be worth around $1m, however, Melania seems to prefer just wearing her engagement ring.
Guests
Some of the 350 guests included Elton John, Heidi Klum, Billy Joel, Simon Cowell, Rudy Giuliani, Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton – seriously.
The Honeymoon
The couple honeymooned at the resort, which seems almost underwhelming compared to all the other details mentioned.
