Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande are currently midway through a huge global press tour to promote the much-anticipated new Wicked film. The official red-carpet appearances kicked off in Sydney, before the team headed to LA, followed by Mexico. The London premiere will take place on 18 November, ahead of the film's release into cinemas four days later.

But, prior to landing in Europe, the cast and crew made a stop to screen the film in New York. While Grande chose a sophisticated raspberry Louis Vuitton dress for the occasion (in keeping with her wearing Glinda-inspired pink almost exclusively throughout the tour), Erivo opted for a glamorous black ballgown, custom-made especially for her by Dior.

The look was carefully constructed from three separate parts, starting with a tulle corseted bustier, which alone took 600 hours to make. This was then combined with a hand-draped skirt in black silk faille, which also required 600 hours of work.

The final element was a simple semi-sheer black turtleneck sweater, which was layered over the bustier.

The actress styled her look with a veiled netted headpiece by Stephen Jones, chunky satin platform sandals, and a sparkling diamond necklace worn over the jumper. She added multiple earrings and chunky rings.

When it came to beauty, Erivo opted for glowing skin and a shimmering green smokey eye – the green a nod to her on-screen Wicked character, Elphaba – which ultra long lashes and a winged liner. She added a glossed, lined lip and her now-signature statement nails.

The silver-screen adaptation of the much-loved musical has been split into two parts, much like the theatre show. The second instalment will follow in November 2025.
