Influencer Steph Claire Smith has spoken out in defence of her wedding dress—telling critics she doesn’t think people have the right to comment on something ‘so personal’.

The 25-year-old made the admission during an interview with Shameless Podcast after rocking a two-piece, dress with a crop top while marrying longtime boyfriend Josh Miller last month.

“I think weddings are so personal, and until you plan one yourself... maybe that's when people realise that they shouldn't have an opinion on it,” she said.

“It's a bit unfair weddings are getting scrutinised - things like floral choices, food or the way things are set, or the dress that you choose and all that sort of stuff.”

Personal decision

The fitness star, who has more than 1.5million Instagram followers, then went on to list her reasons behind choosing such a unique style of gown, which she matched with natural makeup and a low bun.

“I'm constantly wearing my sports bra with my leggings and without my top on. I'm constantly wearing crop tops. That's my style,” she said.

“When I could see it looking really beautiful in a wedding dress, and it was still classic and tied back to my personality, I loved that.”

“I don't care that it's not everyone's choice. Your wedding dress doesn't need to be everyone's choice.”

On her star-studded big day, Steph walked down a lush aisle, lined with blush-toned roses and dried pampas, wearing a bandeau crop top and skirt by Australian designer, Chosen By One Day.

For the reception, she changed into a cut-out long white dress, complete with thigh-high slit and a pair of crisp white trainers.
