Ice Spice Breaks Her Ex’s Heart in Super Bowl Commercial for Starry Soda
Ice Spice has teamed up with PepsiCo’s lemon lime soda Starry in her new Super Bowl commercial.
Featuring the tagline, “It’s time to see other sodas,” Ice Spice, playing herself, has moved on from her ex lemon lime soda in favor of Starry. The commercial opens with a scene of her sitting in between the brand’s animated mascots, Lem and Lime, sharing an affectionate moment. “This Starry is mad good!” she says, before both of them kiss her on the cheek.

Breaking up the fun, Ice Spice’s jilted ex shows up, distraught to see her with another soda. “You’re looking well,” he tells her, to which Ice Spice replies, “I just needed something more refreshing, more crisp. I’m with Starry now.”
Lem says “This is intense,” while Lime offers “He’s so vulnerable!” as they watch the awkward interaction unfold. The unnamed ex soda — he has a blurred label on his clothes — cannot handle the rejection and explodes from emotion, splashing his inferior carbonated citrus concoction on Ice Spice and her new beaus.
Starry was launched by PepsiCo in January 2023, replacing the discontinued Sierra Mist and competing against popular lemon lime sodas Sprite and 7 Up. It has since become the official soft drink of the NBA, WNBA and the G League.
Ice Spice is one of many stars featured in this year’s Super Bowl commercials. Perhaps the only day of the year when audiences look forward to advertising, other celebrities included in this year’s commercial lineup are Jenna Ortega for Doritos, Aubrey Plaza for Mountain Dew, Jeremy Renner for Silk, and Jennifer Aniston for Uber Eats.
Landing a Super Bowl commercial is another jewel in the crown of the 24-year-old rapper Ice Spice, who has been on a meteoric rise since late 2022. She was recently nominated for four Grammys, including Best New Artist and Best Rap Song for “Barbie World.”
