Packed To The Rafters' Hugh Sheridan comes out as non-binary

Former Packed To The Rafters star Hugh Sheridan has come out as non-binary, saying they refuse to accept labels because it limits them.

Hugh got engaged to TikTok star and model Kurt Roberts in March, after popping the question at the Adelaide Film Festival, and now they've told fans in an Instagram post : “I AM still a human (non binary/bi/me/Hughman) but I’m in a monogamous relationship with another human, who I love.”

“I don’t accept a label cause it limits me… if you want it; take it. I chose zero labels for no other reason except the exclusion, limitations, separation, I believe are all one, deeeeep down.”

Hugh continued, urging fans to “be you, be true, be free” and asked them to read an article they wrote for men’s magazine DNA.

In the article, Hugh addressed their engagement to Kurt, saying: “Now I’m marrying a guy you can call me gay. Whatever! The point is, we’re all human and, in my case, labelling put me into a box that felt like a cell.”

Hugh went public with his relationship in February, telling The Daily Telegraph: "He's very kind and it's just nice".

The couple have been together since around Christmas after meeting at a Sydney party in November last year, though they initially opted to keep the budding romance quiet.

Then in March, the 35-year-old got down on one knee during Kurt's stage show Hughman, before turning to the crowd and announcing, “I just got engaged!”

"I do know very much in my heart he is a perfect partner - a good person to balance me out. I just knew he was the right one," Hugh told The Sunday Mail the morning after the proposal.

And Kurt admitted he was completely shocked.

“I literally had no idea it was coming - I thought I was getting pulled on stage to dance or something ... I was like “please, no’ Then it dawned on me.”

Hugh told the publication they chose a white diamond ring from Adelaide jeweller James Thredgold - studded with diamonds and a ruby on the inside – to propose to Kurt after also inviting family along to Adelaide so they could ask for their permission to pop the question.
