Hugh Grant, Professional Grump, Looks Happy for Once at a Rare Red Carpet Appearance With His Wife
It was a coordinated style moment.
Hugh Grant is known for playing the quintessential romcom leading man, and it seems the actor has a dose of that romance in his own personal life. While the British actor became a household name for his roles in movies Notting Hill and the Bridget Jones franchise, his new horror thriller Heretic has also been getting a lot of attention—and Grant made a rare red carpet appearance with his wife, Anna Eberstein, as he stepped out at the premiere of the film in Berlin.
On Sunday, November 24, Grant posed alongside Eberstein during a surprise joint showing at the Astor Film Lounge—and the private couple showed off some subtle PDA, embracing and putting their arms around each other for the premiere’s red carpet. The 64-year-old actor put a twist on a classic black suit for the event, sporting a velvet blazer paired with a crisp white dress shirt with the top buttons undone, black slacks, and black leather loafers.
Meanwhile, his Swedish TV producer wife was glowing in a black tweed minidress with a complementary black velvet trim encircling the neck, hemline, and waist of her red carpet look. Black velvet piping also ran down the front of her dress and along the pockets, which were also accentuated with gold buttons. A black leather cuff, a matching clutch bag, sheer tights, and ankle strap black heels completed her look.
Grant has earned the reputation of being grumpy during red carpets and interviews, however, the actor was all smiles when posing alongside his wife. While the couple has kept their relationship out of the spotlight over the years, Eberstein has been hitting the red carpet circuit alongside her husband in recent months. She wore another black minidress when she stepped out as Grant’s plus one at the 2024 BFI London Film Festival Luminous Gala, and the pair also attended the Heretic premiere together at the Toronto Film Festival back in September.
The Love Actually alum married Eberstein back in 2018. The couple share three kids together, including John Mungo Grant, 12, Lula Danger Grant, 8, and Blue Grant, 6.
Back in 2018, the then-newlywed opened up about his regrets about not getting married sooner. "It's really nice, I can't pretend it isn't," the Undoing star told Today during an interview. "I should have done it before. I'm just lucky. I'm lucky. I've got a great wife. I love her."
