Hugh Grant doesn't recall 'making out' with “RHONY's ”Luann de Lesseps: 'Her memory might be better than mine'
The Countess says she orchestrated the meeting by pretending to bump into Grant at a restaurant — a.k.a "flirting 101."
The Countess is living out her own Notting Hill fantasy — give or take a few key details.
Bravo star Luann de Lesseps recently divulged the story of her alleged wild night out with Hugh Grant, including the clever way that she orchestrated a meeting with him. But the Heretic actor has already chimed in to say that he remembers things a little differently.
While chatting with Too Fab, the Real Housewives of New York City alum shared that crossing paths with Grant, 64, in a Hamptons restaurant was no happy accident. She purposely decided to dine there only upon learning that Grant had been spotted.
"I called and said, 'Get the table right next to Hugh Grant,'" de Lesseps recalled. "I had my family over, my brother was visiting me, and I said, 'Let's go.'"
After instructing the staff to seat her right beside Grant, de Lesseps enacted her plan: "I pushed out my chair real fast and I bumped into him — flirting 101. I bumped into him and said, 'Oh I'm so sorry.'"
De Lesseps added that Grant recognized her through his connection to Andy Cohen.
"I go, 'I'm so sorry. Can I buy you a shot? I feel terrible,'" she continued, "He goes, 'Okay, but I'll come have a shot with you if you do one with me.'"

One thing led to another and, de Lesseps claims, "Before you know it, we are taking shots and making out…. heavily at the table! My brother was like, 'I can't believe you're making out with Hugh Grant', and I was like, 'Neither can I.'"
Grant has since taken to X with a response to de Lesseps' version of events. The actor, who has been married to wife Anna Elisabet Eberstein since 2018, wrote, "Steady on. I do remember meeting a charming RHNY in a restaurant, but I’d like to stress it was about 15 years ago. I don’t recall shots or kissing but her memory might be better than mine."
De Lesseps responded with a GIF of herself, captioned, "Literally crying laughing."
Representatives for Grant declined to comment further and de Lesseps team did not immediately respond to Entertainment Weekly's request for comment.
De Lesseps, who did not specify exactly when she crossed paths with Grant, has been embracing a sober lifestyle since her Christmas Eve 2017 arrest in Florida, though she addressed breaking her sobriety in 2023's The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: RHONY Legacy.

De Lesseps went on to share another chance celebrity encounter that she hoped would become more, revealing that she once shared an enclosed space with Gerard Butler… and his girlfriend.
"I got into an elevator with him," she claimed. "I tried my best but he had a girlfriend who was there. You can only try!"

On the subject of love, the RHONY star has been enlisted to appear in the upcoming Bravo dating series Love Hotel, alongside RHOC Shannon Beador and RHOP stars Gizelle Bryant and Ashley Darby.
De Lesseps teased that she was "impressed" by the selection of men available in the series, adding that she was also happy to learn that they were not familiar with her Bravo work and didn't know who she was beforehand. As for the dynamic between the fellow women, the Countess said they worked "really well" together. But don't think that means there won't be plenty of drama.
"We were each other's wingman," de Lesseps said of the other women, "It was more about the drama between the men. I had a couple guys fighting over me. It’s really about that dynamic. You know we have our moments and sometimes we like same guy."
