Mark also heaped praise on his wife, writing: "There’s no greater right of passage a human can go through than labour and giving birth. The gravity of how unexplainably challenging and profound it is holds a power I didn’t know existed.

"It truly is a Caterpillar-Butterfly experience.

"Lollie, thank you for choosing me to partner you on this journey. I’m in awe of you and I promise to be the best husband and father I can be."

Laural shared her own post on Instagram, revealing that Soma was born on Saturday January 8th at 7.04pm weighing 2.8kgs.

"It’s hard to put in words the past few days, but I’m forever changed from the experience of childbirth and becoming a mother in the best possible way," she wrote.

"It’s true what they say there’s no love like this and we are falling deeper in love by the day."

Congratulations quickly flooded in for the couple, with The Voice Australia winner Chris Sebastian commenting: "She is perfect congratulations guys!!"

Luke Hemsworth also left a note, writing: "So stoked for you guys!"

Couple's joy after heartbreak

The happy news comes after the couple suffered the heartbreak of a miscarriage in August 2020.

At the time Laural shared a photo of herself and Mark together in the hospital, and wrote a lengthy post about the tragic event and how she hoped people would be more comfortable talking about miscarriages in the future.

"It's difficult to open up and post the hard stuff on social media but it doesn't feel right only posting the good. We all go through hard and dark times and for Mark and I this week has been an incredibly sad and tough week," she posted.

"@themarkfurze and I were going to make a pretty big announcement this week...we're having a baby! I'm 10 weeks pregnant and we have been so excited daydreaming about what our little human would be like and getting ready for this new chapter.

"But, this past week at my ultrasound we found out the sad news the pregnancy isn't viable and I've had what's called a missed miscarriage where my body still thinks it's pregnant but the fetus hasn't progressed.

"Pregnancy loss isn't talked about much but it's actually really common and happens to 1 in 4 pregnancies. I guess we were the unlucky 1 in 4 this time... I wanted to share this here because it doesn't feel right just pretending this huge life event hasn't happened to us. I want to respect it and be open about it."

Mark, who has been married to Laural since 2015, shared her post on his page, writing that he was "so proud".

It's been 12 years since Mark appeared as Ric Dalby in Summer Bay, having first played the character back in 2004, but Mark's subsequent success in the music industry saw him leave the world of acting for good.

He even threw his hat in the ring on The Voice Australia in 2020. He ended up making it all the way through to the Top 8, and down to the final two on Team Kelly but lost our to eventual winner Chris.
