Hollyoaks has confirmed a devastating story for Charlie Dean will air soon.

The teen has already been struggling with anxiety and low moods, as his low GCSE results ruled him out of attending music college like he'd always hoped.

His stepfather Darren Osborne thought he could help Charlie by secretly slipping him antidepressants, but Charlie was understandably furious when he discovered the betrayal.

In upcoming scenes, Darren finds out Hollyoaks High will let Charlie retake his current year to improve his GSCE score but the teen outright refuses and barricades himself in his room.

Darren recruits Shing Lin Leong and Dillon Ray in hopes of convincing Charlie to change his mind but they have no luck talking him around.

When Charlie does eventually try to make it to the band room for practice, he starts having an anxiety attack and texts Shing Lin about the emergency.

Darren and Tony have to barge into Charlie's room to help him and are horrified to see the dark song lyrics he has scrawled across his walls.

In the wake of this discovery, Darren tries to come to grips with how best to help Charlie, with Tony mentioning how important it is for Charlie to know his stepdad is listening.

Darren once again asks Shing Lin for help in calling Charlie, but she blows him off because she thinks Charlie is in need of some time alone.

Later, Shing Lin is alarmed to receive a text from Charlie who is on the beach, so she alerts Darren. Darren and Tony then rush to the beach to try to get to Charlie before he does anything dangerous.
