TV presenter Holly Willoughby has revealed that she had a 'bloody terrifying' moment on her journey to better self-awareness.

The This Morning host, who has made no secret of her fascination with alternative therapies and healing, spoke to her friend Fearne Cotton on her Happy Place podcast, and explained that being in Australia filming I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here in 2018, had given her the time away from her usual commitments to explore healing options.

"Australia was a little gift really because a) I wasn’t supposed to be there and b) I was on the other side of the world," she told Fearne.

"I was without my children, without my husband for two weeks before they came out. And I had this apartment, and I had nothing to do apart from look after myself."

Though she had several 'weird' experiences and met 'wonderful' people, Holly went on, it was going a to see a kinesiologist that really 'unlocked' something in her.

Kinesiology began as a treatment in the '60s, and focuses on 'unlocking' trapped muscles which are causing others to over-work, with causes ranging from physical to nutritional and emotional blockages.

A session with a practitioner will look at various aspects of health and wellbeing, including stress and adrenal health, immune system, digestive health and hormones, as well as emotional wellbeing.

‘There was seriously something else going on there because she definitely unlocked something," Holly recalled.

"And I know that people are very wary of people maybe going in and having an 'unlocking' moment in, say, something… the NHS wouldn’t recommend. There is a professional route to go down with your psychologist and your therapy and there is an alternative route. Now, for me they worked beautifully alongside each other.

"But there was this moment and it was… Actually it was bloody terrifying if I am going to be completely honest. It wasn’t a nice feeling," she admitted.

‘"It wasn’t like a eureka hallelujah moment. It wasn’t nice. But I knew that it was the beginning of something.

"That was it really. That was the beginning. What started off as scary I now love."

She added, "I’m never going to be at the point where you go, 'I did that and now I am fixed'", but plans to continue "digging down and finding more" to get to know herself better.

Holly has spoken openly about her personal journey of self-discovery. Her book, Reflections, recently launched, described as 'an inspirational book of life lessons.' Currently the best seller in Amazon's 'beauty and fashion' category, the book covers self-image, and how to create time for yourself in a busy life.

Speaking about what prompted her to write it, she said, "There's been a lot of tears. It's been very hard, it's been painful.

"I think sometimes shining a light into those dark corners of your own life is hard and sometimes you have to be very brave, and you have to dig really deep to do it.

"But I think it's really important because I think if you don't do it, then it will rise to the surface and sometimes it comes out sideways. So, I think you do need to face those things with the right support and when it feels like the right time for you, and for me, this definitely was the right time."

Holly now meditates for 20 minutes a day, and in September, launched her own website, Wylde Moon, where she regularly features alternative healing paths and her love of crystals.

She wrote on an instagram post, "It is a space full of things that I love and people that inspire me... from beauty and fashion, to energy and healing."

She also said: "To me, the ultimate WYLDE Woman is somebody who looks in the mirror and knows that they are enough and truly believes it,” she explained. “And I’m not sitting here saying that I’m that WYLDE Woman, because I’m not. Would I love to be? Of course! That’s my goal, because there’s such freedom in it."
