Here's How The Cast Of "Shadow And Bone" Is Responding To The Show Being Canceled
On Wednesday, Leigh Bardugo, whose novels inspired the series Shadow and Bone, announced on Instagram that the show, which aired for two seasons on Netflix, would not return for a third.
The show debuted in 2021 and is based on Leigh’s Grishaverse book universe, which is comprised of the Shadow and Bone trilogy, Six of Crows duology, and The King of Scars duology.
In light of the show's cancelation, several of its stars have taken to social media to share their reactions.
This includes Jessie Mei Li, who starred on the series as Alina Starkov.
"S&b has come to an end my first big job & i will never forget it. Walking away now towards exciting new horizons with some friends for life!! Thanks for watching Grishaverse XXX," Jessie wrote on her Instagram story, before noting she'd be sharing a series of "final parting videos" related to the show.
Ben Barnes, who played General Aleksander Kirigan, aka The Darkling, also shared videos and photos related to the show in an Instagram post.
"I was so excited to watch the brilliant, beautiful humans I love so much who made ‘Shadow & Bone’ take this world, their characters and this story onwards," he wrote. "This part of the journey is sorrowful and I am so proud to have been a part of it."
As for Archie Renaux, who played Mal Oretsev, he took to his Instagram story to share a few words.
"Loved every minute of it, thank you all for your support, very grateful!" he wrote.
Lewis Tan, who played Tolya, offered a short statement on Twitter.
"No mourners. Thank you all, best fans ever. #SHADOWANDBONE," he wrote.

Calahan Skogman, who played Matthias Helvar on the series, posted a statement to his Instagram story.
Noting that he wept when he got the call to play Matthias, Calahan thanked viewers before saying that he's "heartbroken by the idea that we won't be able to finish what we started." You can read his full statement below:
Shadow and Bone wasn't the only show Netflix canceled recently. Deadline reported on Wednesday that the streaming service also said goodbye to Agent Elvis, Captain Fall, Farzar, and Glamorous.
