Heidi Klum Recalls the Halloween Costume Mishap That Happened When She Was 8 Months Pregnant (Exclusive)
The supermodel spoke to PEOPLE about what went wrong when she dressed up as the apple from the Garden of Eden in 2006
As the Queen of Halloween, Heidi Klum know what it takes to execute a mind-boggling costume — but that doesn’t mean she hasn’t had to jump over some hurdles to execute them to perfection.
Speaking with PEOPLE at the grand opening of Crazy Pizza in N.Y.C. on Oct. 29, the supermodel, 51, revealed that there was one costume that she had a mishap with. “When I was an apple, like, you know, Seal and he was Eve,” she said, describing her couple's costume with her ex from a day gone by.
In 2006, the America’s Got Talent judge dressed up in an oversize apple costume because she was, at the time, eight months pregnant with her and now-ex-husband Seal’s son Johan. “I wanted to make sure nothing can hurt the baby,” she explained.
The only downside to the outfit’s size? Getting to the party.
“Look, I couldn’t fit in anything, so I couldn't get through any normal car doors. So last minute they had to get me a convertible to even be able to get into the car to be able to ride there,” she said.
Running into a wardrobe malfunction is always something Klum thinks about whenever she steps onto the carpet at her famous Halloween parties, which she’s been hosting almost every year since 2000.

“I always get anxious,” Klum told PEOPLE. “Because there is no real trial. I can't do a real fitting before I am in it. Because I never know if it works until the day [of]. And then you know, and then something happens and I'm like, ‘Oh god.' ”
Nevertheless, it’s safe to say Klum nails it every time and that’s all down to the amount of preparation she does for the one spooky night of the year.
