It’s not something you see every day: a gigantic ball pitt in middle of the street with a sign that says ‘Take a seat and Make a friend’. So what would you do? Dive right in?
That’s the social experiment US website SoulPancake tried out by planting an adult-sized children’s ball pitt on the corner of a busy street, inviting perfect strangers to sit and discuss some of life’s most thought-provoking questions.
Once inside the colourful play-pen, the curious strangers began opening up on a range of personal topics, from ‘What’s on your bucket list?’, ‘Who most inspires you?’ and ‘When did you first fall in love?’ A number of people even discovered they share a common connection, despite having never met each other before.What happened is enough to make your heart melt. Watch the full video.The SoulPancake website, co-founded by Rainn Wilson (from The Office), sets out to explore some of life’s biggest topics such as religion, science, love and philosophy. “[It’s] a place to speak your mind, unload your questions and figure out what it means to be human,” the site says.Since SoulPancake’s successful launch in 2009, Wilson produced a New York Times best-selling book of the same name, and regularly contributes to Oprah Winfrey’s Super Soul Sunday television series.
