Forget about swiping right, a round of strength training is the new way to meet a potential mate.

With health and fitness taking off in Australia, it makes sense that men and women would try and find like-minded fit partners through dating bootcamps.

Fitness trainer Alicia Beveridge from Bottom’s Up Fitness was tired of trying to find love online, that she decided to start a new forum. “My little search for eligible men did get all the girls at bootcamp talking and when I discovered just how many fit, awesome girls in our community were keen to meet a few equally as amazing men, I was inspired to create something special.”

Beveridge has partnered with trainers Blake Worrell Thompson and Dylan Rivier, to create a singles fitness event called Fit 4 Love. While singles fitness classes have taken off overseas, this is one of the first of its kind in Australia.

So why are fitness classes a good way to find a mate? “You already have a common interest with the other people there, whether it amount to meeting a potential partner or finding a new friend,” says Beveridge.

The first Fit 4 Love class will happen in Sydney on Saturday November 14, and while the class is only 45 minutes, Beveridge is hoping the endorphin hit will lead to some strong connections. “Hopefully people will stick around to mingle or venture somewhere for brunch.”

Using the concept of speed dating, the concept focuses on “fun, bodyweight sessions with simple, yet fun drills that have the boys and girls interacting,” says Beveridge. “Why not flirt, chat and get fit at the same time? If speed dating exists, why not speed training?”
