Ren You is searching for love on the Internet – but he's not using eHarmony to do it.

The 29-year-old Harvard business school student has launched his own website dateren.com and a challenge – he'll reward anyone who finds him a girlfriend with $10,000.

"I'm single. Let's change that," You's site homepage reads.

The catch? You and the woman must not only hit it off – they have to stay together for more than 6 months.

You took on the unique dating approach following a series of bad dates after he relocated to Birmingham, Alabama.

"I moved to Birmingham last year for a job after finishing grad school. Having spent the last 12 months going on a lot of (some interesting, some dull, and a few utterly bizarre) dates, I decided to try something new," he writes.

You, who works at a private equity firm, admits that his new dating tactic is "weird." Still, he insists: "Look at it this way: if you work 12 hours/day, how would you want to spend the few waking hours you have left?" he writes on his website.

"I've done dating websites and I've met people through friends,” You told ABC News. "I'm sure if I stuck with those ways that, down the road a few years, maybe I'd find someone, but that seems very time consuming and not efficient."

The University of Virginia alum says he doesn't have children or pets, and is a non-religious non-smoker. His favourite movies include Wedding Crashers and Shawshank Redemption. As of Thursday he had around 400 potential dates in his inbox, according to ABC News.
