How To Fix A Hangover Quick Smart

1. Hydrate
Drink water to replenish lost fluids. Add some mineral-rich sea salt to bolster your lost electrolytes, or drink an activated charcoal solution to rid the liver of toxins (available in health food stores). My secret fix? Add one to two teaspoons of activated charcoal powder to water with some sea salt and a squeeze of lemon.

Contrary to popular belief, drinking coffee is not actually a bad thing to do if you're hungover - it can help reduce the swelling of blood vessels in the head, which could be exacerbating your headache. It will help with general fatigue too.

Lastly, drink bone broth, as this will help repair inflammation to the gut cause by the alcohol. Plus, it's packed full of powerful nutrients to help replenish lost stores.

#2 Nutrition
Eat coconut flesh, which is rich in potassium - an electrolyte lost with increased diuresis (urination). Secondly, add turmeric to your food - the active ingredient (curcumin) is a potent anti-inflammatory which will help you get back to your pre-booze state.

In terms of nutrition, you should eat eggs, scrambled (dairy-free), boiled or poached. They're high in cysteine, which will help mitigate your symptoms. Also, sulphur-rich foods such as kale, garlic and onions will assist in recovery.

Serve 1-2
Ingredients
4 biodynamic/organic eggs

1 tbs butter/ghee/coconut oil

1 garlic - finely chopped

1 long red chilli – de-seeded and roughly chopped

Half brown onion – finely chopped

½ bunch kale – roughly chopped

Sea salt

Black pepper

In a fry pan, heat the fat and add the onion, garlic and chilli. Cook on medium heat until the onion begins to soften and then remove from the heat and set aside. Add some more fat to the pan if necessary and throw in the chopped kale. Toss gently until the kale begins to wilt and soften. Remove from the heat and set aside. Lightly beat the eggs in a bowl and pour into the pan. After 30 seconds, cover half the eggs with the onion, chilli and kale. Cook for two minutes or until you can lift the eggs with a spatula with ease (without it losing integrity). Lift the omelette opposite the kale/chilli/onion and flip it over to cover and continue to cook for 1-2 minutes or until cooked to your preference. Remove from the heat, season, and serve.

3. Movement
Engaging in some short, intense (sweaty) exercise will help expedite the agony. It will be the last thing on your mind, but it might just help. Re-hydrate first though!

4. Avoid hair of the dog
It might seem like the only rational thing to do, but your body won't be friends with you in the long run.
