Meghan Umphres Leatherman, a qualified CrossFit coach, continued with her fitness and weight lifting regime throughout her pregnancy, and was still lifting weights two days before giving birth.

Three days before she was due, Leatherman set a new personal record, lifting 98kg deadlifts.

In response to criticism of pregnant CrossFit she told the Daily Mail: “I would never give up CrossFit – being fit helped me to conceive in the first place and it kept me healthy throughout my pregnancy.”

Leatherman started CrossFit two years ago and instantly became addicted to the results. “I’ve never considered giving it up during pregnancy,” she said.

Leatherman gave birth to daughter Florence Germaine on May 3 and expects to be back in the gym after three weeks.
