Science Knows Why Your Parents Don’t Like Bae

On a scale of one to ten - with ten being the dream and one being, well, bleak - having your parents take a strong dislike to your new bae comes in at about a negative sixty. Read: it totally sucks. But, turns out, it may not be his fault after all.

In a new Study, women were asked to rank the qualities and values that they look for in a partner from 1 to 133. They were also asked to do the same for what they would look for in their sister’s partner, and the results varied to say the least.

In their sibling’s partner women tended to look for guys who are empathetic, responsible, helpful, sensible and kind. Whereas, in their own partner they looked for someone who was charming, fun and good in bed!

And the ~dream guy~ for most parents tended to be similar to what a sibling looks for. The study’s lead author, Robert Biegler believes that it has something to do with parents wanting a drama free life, “The ideal partner for your sister or your daughter can’t dram resources from you and decrease the chance that your own genes can be passed on.”

So there you go - it wasn't his table manners, after all.
