HBO’s ‘Harry Potter’ Series Puts Out Casting Call for Roles of Harry, Ron and Hermione

HBO is searching for child actors to play the starring trio of Harry, Ron and Hermione for its upcoming Harry Potter TV series. The production studio posted an open call for child actors who will be between the ages of nine and eleven.

Actors must be residents of either the UK or Ireland. HBO is requesting 30-second self-tapes in which they read a short poem or story of one’s choosing in their own accent. Another self-tape requests that actors talk about personal information, like where they live and their height.

In the casting call, HBO notes that it’s committed to “inclusive, diverse casting.”

For every role, please submit qualified performers, without regard to ethnicity, sex, disability, race, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other basis protected by law unless otherwise specifically indicated,” the post reads.

The submission deadline is October 31, with filming set to take place throughout 2025 and 2026. Showrunners are planning for the Harry Potter series to span seven seasons, each corresponding to a book in the franchise.
