The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have chosen to follow just 15 Instagram accounts this month.

Last week, Harry, 34, and Meghan, 38, asked their 9.2m followers to nominate their ‘Force for Change’ and to suggest organisations or people “doing amazing work that we should all be following.”

It comes after the duchess guest-edited British Vogue’s September issue and included 15 inspirational women for the cover, whom she called “Forces for Change.

Among the chosen Instagram accounts are Tiny Tickers, a UK charity dedicated to the early detection and care of babies with serious heart conditions; Kenyan children’s charity Rafiki Mwema; and conservation organisation Lion Guardians.

Harry and Meghan thanked their followers for contributing their ideas in the caption: “Many of you have suggested that we use this month as an opportunity to highlight lesser known organisations and shine a light on those working hard behind the scenes that may not get the level of attention that they so rightly deserve.”

They added: “These accounts showcase those persevering at the grassroots level, connecting our global community through a shared lens of giving back and helping one another. We were so happy to learn about them and are now able to share them with you!”

Since setting up their Instagram page @SussexRoyal in April, they have chosen to follow only a select amount of accounts each month based on a different theme or cause.

For May, it was Mental Health Awareness; in June, the couple shone a light on Pride month and in July, the focus was on the environment.

On Sunday, Meghan celebrated her 38th birthday and Harry posted a personal message to his wife: “Happy Birthday to my amazing wife. Thank you for joining me on this adventure! - Love, H.”

The Duchess of Sussex is currently on maternity leave, following the birth of baby Archie in May.

Harry and Meghan are taking their son on his first royal tour to Africa this autumn.
