McFly's Harry Judd and wife Izzy welcome a baby boy

McFly's Harry Judd and his wife Izzy Johnston have welcomed their third child – a baby boy.

The former Strictly Come Dancing champion and his musician wife shared a picture of themselves cuddling their new son from the hospital bed of the maternity ward shortly after he was born on Monday 11 October.

Judd, 35, told his 612k followers: "Clever Mummy and baby boy are doing well and are both beautiful."

The couple – who married in 2012 – are already parents to five-year-old daughter Lola and four-year-old son Kit. Their first child was born using IVF treatment after they struggled to conceive, but they went on to have son Kitt naturally.

Johnston previously opened up about their struggles to conceive as well as her heartbreak at suffering a miscarriage in 2014 in her book Dare To Dream.

The violinist – who reached the final of the second series of Britain's Got Talent in 2008 with electric string quartet Escala – met Judd when she appeared as part of the backing band on McFly's 2005 concert tour.

Drummer Judd has just finished touring with McFly and did not join his bandmates Dougie Poynter and Danny Jones in the Strictly studio on Saturday night to cheer on bandmate Tom Fletcher, who is competing in the dance competition this year.

Judd won the Strictly glitterball in 2011 with professional partner Aliona Vilani.

Fletcher said of taking part in the show: "I checked with Harry first, it was sort of 'his thing', so I wanted to make sure he was OK with it, and he was fully supportive and said I would have the best time."

He added: "I've always felt if I did it, it would be kind of pressure. Strictly's been a part of McFly's history – it was an amazing time for our band when he won.

"So I did kind of feel like there's pressure for me to go far. But I feel like after 10 years, I just want to have a fun experience and not worry about competing with Harry Judd!"

McFly are due to play a one-off gig at London's O2 Arena on 21 November, before taking a break from touring until June next year.
