How to Make Hard-Boiled Eggs 10x Better

Eggs might just be the most versatile food out there, and everyone has their favorite way to enjoy them. From soft, pillowy scrambled eggs to sunny-side-up masterpieces, eggs are a choose-your-own-adventure kind of meal.

Some swear by the creamy richness of a poached egg, while others prefer the simplicity of a classic hard-boiled egg, perfect for snacking or adding to a salad. And let’s not forget fried eggs—crispy edges with a nice runny yolk—eggs are magic!

Hard-boiled and fried eggs are very different from one another. Hard-boiled eggs are cooked in their shell and simmered to perfection until the yolk is firm and creamy. Fried eggs, on the other hand, are cracked into a hot pan, sizzling their way to crispy whites. Both are delicious but worlds apart in texture and vibe.

But what if you could have the best of two egg styles in one delicious dish? As someone who loves to try new egg styles, I recently stumbled upon a wild combo, shared by content creator Snejana Andreeva (aka @themodernonna)—hard-boiled fried eggs. Yes, they're exactly what they sound like.

What Are Fried Hard-Boiled Eggs?

In the caption that accompanies the video, Andreeva said that this recipe was inspired by Egyptian Fried Boiled Eggs from her friend Suzy at The Mediterranean Dish. She says if you are tired of boring hard-boiled eggs, these fried hard-boiled eggs are the answer you need. Once I saw the video, I was convinced.

This technique takes a cooked hard-boiled egg and fries it to crispy perfection. It’s the best of both worlds, combining the versatility of a hard-boiled egg with the crispiness of a fried one. Game-changer!

To make fried hard-boiled eggs, start by hard-boiling and peeling your eggs. Next, heat up some olive oil in a skillet. Add the whole peeled hard-boiled eggs and cook them until they're golden and crispy in spots. The yolk may seep out a little, but that's ok! The result is golden, crispy eggs that are firm on the inside with a delightfully lightly crunchy exterior and a smooth, creamy yolk.

Andreeva serves her eggs on top of a Greek-style salad, a mix of cucumbers, tomatoes and red onion with some cubed feta and a drizzle of olive oil. I love that idea, but there's so much you can do with these eggs. They'd be great sprinkled with your favorite spices (maybe Everything but the Bagel Seasoning) and would be a fun way to mix up your next batch of deviled eggs. It’s like a hard-boiled egg got a glow-up, and I’m 100% here for it.
