Gypsy Rose Blanchard welcomes first child with boyfriend Ken Urker, exactly 1 year after her prison release
The couple met as pen pals during Blanchard's eight years in prison.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard is officially a mother.
The 33-year-old, whose involvement in a plot to murder her mother inspired Hulu's scripted crime drama The Act, has welcomed her first child with her partner, Ken Urker.
"Welcoming 2025 with the greatest gift of all," Urker announced Jan. 1 on Instagram, captioning a photo of the family together in the hospital. The photo sees Blanchard in a hospital bed, cradling the newborn with Urker.
TMZ reports that Blanchard gave birth on Dec. 28, the one-year anniversary of her early release from prison, after serving roughly eight years of her 10-year sentence.
The couple previously revealed that their baby girl would be named Aurora Raina, a decision that Blanchard didn't take full credit for during a December interview with PEOPLE.
"Ken came up with that," she admitted. "There's a whole backstory to it. Some people think that it's because of the Disney princess. Some people think that it's because Kristy's dog is named Aurora Grace," Blanchard said, referencing Sleeping Beauty and her stepmother. "It's not because of that."
She went on to explain that she and Urker share a fascination with the Northern Lights, also known as the Aurora Borealis.
"I think it was maybe in 2018, we wrote each other's future kid's name on pieces of paper and Aurora is what we both picked without even knowing each other was picking it," Blanchard recalled. "When we had broken up [it was like] 'Oh, Aurora is never going to be born.'"

Blanchard and Urker first met as pen pals while she was serving time in prison for her involvement in her mother's murder. The pair had an on-and-off relationship over the years, with Urker even proposing in 2018, before they ultimately went their separate ways. Blanchard went on to marry Ryan Anderson in 2022, and the duo later split up in March 2024.
Blanchard filed to divorce her estranged husband that April and two months later, announced that she was expecting her first child with Urker after rekindling their romance. She subsequently took a paternity test and publicly confirmed Urker to be the father of her child.
Blanchard told the outlet that the name Aurora always stuck with the pair, even after their breakup. "Some day we're going to see it," she said of the natural light display that inspired their daughter's name. "After I'm off parole we're going to go. We're going to go to Sweden."
In 2016, Blanchard pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for her role in her mother's 2015 death. Her then-boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, fatally stabbed Dee Dee at her Springfield, Missouri home. Following their arrests, it was revealed that Dee Dee had abused Blanchard for years via Munchausen syndrome by proxy, by lying about her daughter having a host of serious medical conditions that led to real medical procedures, despite Blanchard actually being physically healthy.
Godejohn was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life without the possibility of parole while Blanchard was convicted of second-degree murder and sentenced to 10 years in prison.

As for her approach to parenting, Blanchard has said that she will not be taking cues from her mother. In December of 2023, she told PEOPLE, "Whenever someone says, 'Do you think that because of what you went through, you're going to do that to your kids?' I say, 'You know what? Absolutely not.' I have learned what not to do. I have no concerns about my parenting when it comes to that."
