Groom reveals the shock reason he's calling off the wedding

An uneasy groom has revealed the shock reason he’s considering cancelling his wedding, after his wife-to-be proposed they completely change the nature of their relationship.

The 34-year-old man took to Reddit to make the personal admission, after his fiancée suggested their marriage be an open one, allowing her to sleep with other men.

He also explained how the pair’s union has deteriorated in recent months, to the point his 27-year-old would-be bride is ‘distant’, ‘stressed’ and unwilling to have sex with him.

“We sat down and she said she wasn’t having second thoughts about the marriage, but the ‘nature’ of our relationship,” the man wrote.

“A few of her friends conveyed to her the idea of an ‘open relationship’, (where) they stay with their blokes and have one night stands on nights out if they fancy.

“I’ll be honest, the idea made me ill.”

However, the woman – who has been unfaithful once before – was prepared for the pushback and proceeded to show her partner online examples of successful open relationships.

The man has moved out of their shared home since the suggestion was raised and he’s reassessing his options ahead of their scheduled wedding in November.

“I wouldn’t consider myself old-fashioned, but a wife or fiancée bonking other men will never be in fashion, not in my world anyway,” he wrote.

“I am seriously considering calling the whole thing off, both relationship and wedding.”

However, the groom wasn’t alone in his unease and Reddit users were quick to back his choice to dump the woman.

“This is a dealbreaker,” advised one man who explained “you don’t want an open relationship and she does, there is no in between.”

“If she wants multiple relationships she’ll seek them extramaritally (sic) anyway.”

Others suggested the bride-to-be may already be cheating – and had likely already emotionally checked out of their relationship.

“She’s not monogamy material but she keeps messing up and now insisting on this. Not just discussing it once,” the commenter added.

“And the fact that there hasn’t been any sex lately implies that she’s not interested in OP and is clearly interested in someone else.”
