‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Star Chris Carmack Reveals the One That Got Away During ‘Priceless’ Prank War (Exclusive)
Chris Carmack would prefer to ensure his relationships with his castmates remains professional, but he has no problem risking it all with his wife, Erin Slaver.
While he may be "on the fence" about being pranked himself, as he admitted to a fan in a recent social media comment, pulling off one of his own will elicit a "witchy laugh" from the Grey's Anatomy star, who tells Parade that "smashing your partner with a balloon full of shaving cream or smearing their face in saran wrap is priceless."
When the couple teamed up with Autotrader for a new campaign to take the nasty surprises out of buying and selling a used vehicle through the company's Private Seller Exchange—which guarantees protection for both buyers and sellers—the incredibly social media-savvy couple knew just the type of content to create to accompany the "anti-surprise campaign."
It was a fun new challenge for the pair, who've loved watching others pull off pranks on social media, but have found it to be a lot more stressful in practice than it is in theory.
"We've always talked about how much fun it would be, but it's actually quite a lot of work... to set up a prank and surprise your partner," he admits. Living in the same space and having to craft excuses to keep each other out of the room while they hid the camera was "actually very stressful."
The results, as you can see for yourself, were "very well worth it," but it's a pastime that Carmack likes to leave at home, "respect[ing] people's personal space and creative environment" on set rather than initiating prank wars.
It doesn't mean they don't have fun, though—everyone just has to be "in a mutually goofy mood." When the moment is right, "the entire cast [is] always game to play," evidenced by plenty of "goofy videos [made] on set," but you "don't want to upset a castmate" with a prank gone wrong.

It's something he clearly doesn't have to worry about at home, with the two agreeing to make their video as "real" as possible. Their success left fans in stitches, but, unfortunately, it also meant "discover[ing] each other a few times," leading to Carmack's one big prank that got away.
It was inspired by other TikToks made by "guys on the golf course," where players "will attach a [rubber] snake [via monofilament] to their [friend's] belt," causing the victim to "see the snake and...freak out" as it appears to "start chasing them."
Unfortunately, things didn't work out any of the times he tried to clip the faux snake to his wife. "...there was too much touching involved, I wasn't able to get it," he says. His opportunities were also limited by his surroundings, as he "had to be very careful that there was enough space...so that if she was to fall over, she wouldn't hurt herself."
How very demure of him! Less demure is his intent to try again "when she's not suspecting"—so hopefully she's not reading this!
