Despite wearing pink on Wednesday like a pro, Gretchen has her work cut out for her as her adolescent daughter informs her that her fashion choices are "giving 2004." With no regard for how her grandfather, the inventor of the beloved Toaster Strudel, might feel, she also criticizes her mom for calling Kelis' early-2000s hit "Milkshake" a "bop."
But on the bright side, Amanda Seyfried also pops up as Karen Smith — who still hasn't figured out mirrors.
The clip advertising the retailer's upcoming Black Friday extravaganza is the second part of a campaign that reunites Lohan, Chabert, and Seyfried in their roles from the teen-comedy classic. Filled with Mean Girls throwbacks, references, and cameos, the commercials will continue rolling out on Wednesdays (natch) leading up to the end of the November sale.
Though many of the movie's original stars returned for the ads — including Rajiv Surendra as Kevin Gnapoor and Daniel Franzese as Damian — others, like Rachel McAdams (who played Plastics HBIC Regina George), Lizzy Caplan (Janis Ian), and Jonathan Bennett (Aaron Samuels) were notably absent.
The Walmart advertisement comes on the heels of a new trailer for Tina Fey's upcoming musical movie adaptation of Mean Girls, which is set to hit theaters in January. Fey and Tim Meadows will return as Ms. Norbury and Principal Duval, respectively, but Lohan, Chabert, Seyfried, and McAdams will not portray their 2004 characters. Instead, the young cast includes Reneé Rapp, Angourie Rice, and Auli'i Cravalho.
