The Golden Globes will air on CBS in 2024
The ceremony previously ran on NBC.
The Golden Globes have found a new TV home.
For decades, the ceremony ran on NBC, but in 2024 it will air on CBS and Paramount+. Viewers can tune in to the upcoming telecast on Sunday, Jan. 7, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
The awards, which honor achievements in both film and television, are in the midst of one of the most tumultuous chapters in their 80-year history. In 2021, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), which oversaw the awards, faced widespread criticism for its lack of diversity in its small membership pool, leading to a large-scale boycott of the ceremony. NBC canceled its plans to broadcast the 2022 Golden Globes, so the event was kept private, with presenters announcing winners through a press release and social media.
NBC signed a one-year contract to televise the 2023 awards, which took place in January with host Jerrod Carmichael. In June, Dick Clark Productions purchased the HFPA’s Globes assets to take control of the ceremony, and in October the voting body for the awards expanded to 300 members.
The Globes have also added two new categories for the next ceremony, for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement and Best Stand-Up Comedian on Television.
The 81st Golden Globes will take place Sunday, Jan. 7, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
