Will There Be a ‘Golden Bachelorette’ TV Wedding for Joan and Chock?
The Golden Bachelorette star Joan Vassos and Chock Chapple are looking forward to their future together after getting engaged on the ABC reality show.
And just hours after the emotional finale aired, Joan and Chock sat down for an exclusive Zoom interview with Parade, saying they plan to wed soon.
On Wednesday night, fans watched as Joan, the first female lead of the senior spinoff, chose Chock and gracefully sent ER doc Guy Gansert home.
Private school administrator Joan and Kansas-based insurance executive Chock met by the sea in Bora Bora and professed their love to one another.
Getting down on one knee, Chock, who had left The Golden Bachelorette briefly after his mother died but returned to continue his quest for late-in-life love, asked Joan to marry him.
The answer was yes and Chock placed a Neil Lane diamond ring on Joan's finger. "We're engaged!" they shouted toward cameras.
The next big questions: When is the wedding? Will it be televised?

Have Joan and Chick started making wedding plans?
“It’s only been a day that we can actually be out and making plans,” Joan told Parade. “We wouldn’t be allowed to before now but I think that we’re going to move in that direction, but not immediately. We kind of are excited to be out in public and getting to know each other’s friends and family for a little while, and then, some time in the next few months, we’ll start thinking wedding.”
When are Joan and Chock getting married?
However, when pressed on a date, Joan thought her wedding to Chock would take place next year: “Probably 2025. We want to be married. We want to start a life together. We’re starting a life together whether married or not, but we want to make it official and have our friends and family join in a celebration.”
What is Joan’s idea of a dream wedding?
“I don’t know what my dream wedding would be” to Chock, Joan said. “This is so new and I never thought I would be having a second wedding. I had a pretty big first wedding [to her late husband, John Vassos] so initially I thought, small, just friends and family. We’ve both done that [big wedding] already, and maybe it would just be about us and our close friends and family.”
Will there be a Golden Bachelorette wedding special?
Still, Joan left the door open for a televised Golden Bachelorette wedding, despite fans being upset at Gerry Turner’s ABC Golden Wedding to Theresa Nist. Just three months after getting married, Gerry and Theresa split up.
However, Joan’s journey was different, and she told Parade, “The more I think about it, I think that I’d love the message of hope in that we took this leap of faith and we ended up in this great place and I wanted to continue to show that message to people out there in this weird place in life where they’re our age and single. This ending, this next chapter starting for us, being together, getting married, might be something everybody would like to see. I certainly would consider doing a more public wedding.”
What was Joan and Chock’s engagement party like?
Chock revealed that he and Joan went to their engagement party Wednesday night following the “After the Final Rose” taping.
It was held in Beverly Hills at Gravitas restaurant, owned by a friend of Chock’s. “It was perfect,” Chock said.
Joan said, “Nobody wanted to leave, and we needed some sleep…we kind of finally had to close the bar down, and said ‘It’s time to go, guys.”
Chock said “I did get a text from one of the Bachelor guys, no names, he left at three a.m.”
“We had probably 200 people there,” Chock said. “Everyone said if you get married, we’re coming.”
How do the two sum up their Golden Bachelorette run?
“The experience was something I never planned in my life,” Chock said. “I got on the show because of my daughter who did the application for me. And I had not watched an episode of any Bachelor, so I had no idea what I was getting into, and I did that specifically because I just wanted it to be new. So I had the opportunity to go on the show…to meet someone who just knocked my socks off. If she was in Wichita or I was living somewhere else, I would have pursued her, too. I mean, we’re a great fit. We’re so compatible and I love her to death.”
Joan said she was surprised, “I could develop such strong feelings in such a short amount of time. It started the first date we had, in Disneyland, and it just grew every single interaction we had. Here we are [now], in such a good place in our lives already.”
