Warning: The Golden Bachelorette season finale spoilers ahead!
The Golden Bachelorette has made her pick.
Joan Vassos, the first woman to hold The Golden Bachelorette title, chose insurance executive Chock Chapple in the season finale of the ABC series, which aired on Nov. 13. After having Chock meet her family in Bora Bora, the private school administrator sent home runner-up Guy Gansert because she realized she had “actually found love.”
“It actually happened,” Joan told the cameras. “I know where my heart is at and I know what I have to do."
While viewers learned that Chock earned Joan's final rose during the season finale, Chock had proposed to the Golden Bachelorette star months earlier during filming. So, are The Golden Bachelorette and Chock still together? Read on to find out.
When did Joan and Chock get engaged?
The couple got engaged in Bora Bora during The Golden Bachelorette season finale, which was filmed this summer. After Joan broke things off with Guy in his hotel room, she met Chock on the beach.
Having no idea he was the last man standing, the Kansas native was worried that Joan hadn’t said “I love you” back to him. But she told cameras she didn’t want to say those three words until proposal day. So when she told Chock she loved him and wanted to spend the rest of her life with him, he proposed with a custom 4-carat Neil Lane Couture diamond ring.
“I am so absolutely happy to be in your life and that you're in mine," Chock told Joan during the proposal. “Joan you will never be invisible to me. I'm going to tell you that I love you every day, I promise that.”
Are Joan and Chock still together?
In the "After the Final Rose" special, The Golden Bachelorette host Jesse Palmer revealed that Joan and Chock are still together — dubbing them the franchise’s “newest Golden Bachelorette couple.” He also surprised them with a trip to Disney World with their families, which was a nod to their first date on the show at Disneyland.
“This feels so good,” Joan said about going public with their relationship. “I'm looking at our family and friends who we've never gotten to be with together, so it's so nice to finally be able to share our love and our story and our future with them."
On Nov. 13, Joan shared an Instagram video of her holding up her ring with her new fiancé by her side and captioned the post, “I said YES! 💍✨🌹.” The next day, Chock posted a series of photos from their engagement in Bora Bora with the simple caption, “I love you @joan_vassos.”
What have they said about their relationship since getting engaged?
Since saying “yes” in Bora Bora, Joan and Chock have kept their relationship out of the public eye. During their interview on the "After the Final Rose" special, he said they cooked and played crosswords together.
“We’ve been in hiding for three months,” Joan said on Good Morning America the day after the finale. “We’ve got to spend a lot of time together just kind of falling more and more in love.”
Chock joked that they have dinner plans every night “for the next four months” because they’re so tired of being stuck inside.
When are Joan and Chock getting married?
No wedding plans have been made — yet. Joan told Good Morning America that she wants to live “a little bit of a normal life” first before they start planning their nuptials.
“She’s going to marry me,” Chock said. “It’s just a matter of time.”
Joan told PEOPLE that while she originally wanted something small, now they're considering a televised wedding.
"I feel like everybody that has gone through this whole journey with us ... it'd be fun for them to see maybe chapter two of us actually starting a life together," she said. "This was a message of hope for people our age, and I think that the message still needs to be honed a little bit."
Are Joan and Chock moving to New York City?
After meeting Joan’s family on the show, Chock gave her a heart keychain, which he said symbolized both his commitment to her and his plan for their future: a home in New York City.
“I would like for us to have a place in New York City," he said. "And I want us to do it together and to pick it out and make all the decisions together."
Joan told Good Morning America that even though she said she was never going to leave her home state of Maryland, she was also looking forward to spending time in Kansas, where Chock lives.
“I’m actually excited to spend some time in Kansas,” the Golden Bachelorette said. “I never thought I would utter those words.”
The couple told PEOPLE that they plan to go back and forth between Maryland, Kansas and N.Y.C.
"We're just going to get it figured out this next year," Chock said. "We'll have a full-time place in New York, and whenever we get the opportunity, I think we're going to be there."
