Fan favourite Gogglebox star Symon Lovett has taken to Instagram to reveal he proposed to his girlfriend Gabriella Russo on New Year's Eve.

Alongside a snap of him on one knee in front of Gabriella, Symon wrote: "Some people say New Year’s Eve is overrated, I disagree 💍 #engaged."

Symon's Gogglebox co-star Adam Densten commented on the snap: "Yewwwwwwwwww! The absolute best."

He also jokingly added: "I thought we were the forever couple? 😢"

Abbie Chatfield, who appeared on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here with Symon last year, also commented on the post, writing: "CONGRATS!"

Lee Elliott added: "Truly incredible legends!!!" while his wife Georgia Love wrote: "Just the BEESSSSTTT!!!!"

Nova's Tim Blackwell commented: "Yeeewwwww! All the congrats!"

Symon's former co-star Angie Kent also wrote: "Congrats cuties!!!! Love seeing LOVE right now! We need more of it!"

Many other followers shared their congratulations and well wishes.

In another post, Symon shared video made up of photos from the moment, writing: "I only need to recap one day from 2021."

Lee jokingly added: "Is someone cutting onions???" Georgia agreed, writing: "Oh god this gave me all the feels!!!"

In the photos, Symon is seen popping the question and embracing Gabrielle after she says yes, with both giving thumbs up to the photographer and later enjoying some Champagne to celebrate.

Symon and Gabriella have been dating for about five years, telling WHO in 2018: "I’ve got my lovely girlfriend Gabriella."

"She is fantastic. We have been together almost two years."

Symon and Adam made their first appearance on Gogglebox's first season in 2015, later leaving in 2019, before returning once again last year.
