When it comes to Gilmore Girls, fans know that Lorelai Gilmore and Mrs. Kim couldn't have been any more different in their parenting styles. But while the characters may have had friction throughout the show, it turns out it wasn't the case at all behind the scenes.
On the November 7 episode of Scott Patterson (who played Luke Danes)'s I Am All In podcast, the actor caught up with Emily Kuroda (who played Mrs. Kim) to talk about her experience working on the hit dramedy. Emily's character on the show, Mrs. Kim, is a strict mom whose stern behavior often clashes with her teenage daughter, Lane (Keiko Agena), who happens to be best friends with Rory (Alexis Bledel).
When Scott asked Emily what it was like to work with Lauren Graham (who famously portrayed Lorelai) on the pilot, Emily had nothing but high praise.
"Lauren was just so easy to work with — and so quick!" Emily told Scott in a clip posted on Instagram. "It just happened and we navigated... the set was crazy because they actually had stacks and stacks of chairs. It felt kind of dangerous! And the camera's on a steadicam... But we found the little holes to talk through. Didn't you just think Lauren was just a dream to work with? It was like intuitive."
Given how Gilmore Girls was on the air for seven seasons and received a reboot series a decade later, it doesn't come as a surprise to hear how much Emily enjoyed working with Lauren!
As for how Emily felt about her time working on Gilmore Girls as a whole, she shared a similar sentiment when speaking about what made the show so special back in February 2018.
"I think just the feeling on the set," she told Us Weekly at the time. "There weren’t any divas. Everyone was equally supportive and everyone was so good. The writing is brilliant. You see the first episode and then watching [co-creators] Amy [Sherman-Palladino] and Dan [Palladino] direct the show — talk fast, don’t talk down to the audience, let them catch up or not that’s OK. And there were so many Easter eggs in the script and she didn’t care whether people got them or not."
We love to hear it!
