Gigi Hadid handles wardrobe malfunction like a pro

If there’s anybody who can handle an awkward wardrobe malfunction it’s a supermodel, and Gigi Hadid proved that to be true when she still killed in on the catwalk after her outfit broke mid-show.

The 24-year-old stunner was seen in snaps walking barefoot on the Marc Jacobs New York Fashion Week catwalk, after her heel snapped and she was forced to throw off her thigh high socks and mules just seconds before taking to the stage.

Ever the professional, Gigi handled the moment perfectly, making the barefoot appearance seem almost planned as she was captured gliding across the catwalk gracefully.

“Sometimes a lil wardrobe malfunction can lead to the magic moments,” Gigi said when she took to her Instagram account yesterday to thank the designer.

Marc Jacobs’ stylist Katie Grand has since taken to her own Instagram account to address the red carpet mishap, thanking Gigi for taking it all in her stride.

“There is a little story to go with this clip, in the first opening 'finale' of Marc's show Gigi's heel broke,” Katie wrote, alongside a video of Gigi walking on the catwalk.

“if you see images from the first passage she has thigh high silver socks and white leather mules, and since we were at the other end of the armoury there wasn't much we could do other than either fake a non broken heel or rip off her socks and shoes and send her out barefoot, which we did, and was all the more natural for it.

“Gigi and all the people from the show thank you all so much for being so patient, beautiful and inspiring and also Stephen Galloway for your fantastic choreography). Dream a little Dream.”

It’s been a busy Fashion Week for Gigi, who also opened the James Bond themed Ralph Lauren show and punk-themed Tom Ford show.

She also closed out the Michael Kors show while walking to The Young People’s Chorus of NYC singing ‘This Land Is Your Land’ and ‘America’ on the 18th Anniversary of 9/11,
