This giant mozzie will haunt your dreams

Australia may be home to some pretty hectic bugs and insects, including heaps of pesky mozzies — but this bad boy takes the biscuit.

A giant mosquito — which is literally bigger than the average hand — has been recorded as the world’s biggest in China.

And it’s officially giving us the creeps.

This mozzie is 11cm wide

Discovered by Chinese entomologist Zhao Li, the supersized insect has been officially recorded in the new Guinness World Record book thanks to its spine-tingling wing span of 11cm wide.

With a 5cm long body to match, it is 10 times longer than your average mosquito.

Unlike their blood sucking relatives you find down under, Zhao revealed these pesky bugs don’t feed on blood.

Mosquito branded ‘horrendous’ for size

“These mosquitoes look horrendous, but do not feed on blood, he told the South China Morning Post in April.

“The adults have a life span of only a few days and mainly feed on nectar.”

The specimen is now on display at Zhao’s museum as part of an exhibition about strange insects.

But be careful, just looking at it may give you nightmares. Wahhh.
