George and Amal Clooney have plans — “somewhere” — to celebrate a very special day.

The happy couple, married on Sept. 27, 2014, teased how they were going to honor their 10th anniversary in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE Sept. 26 at The Albies, their annual event in New York City hosted by The Clooney Foundation for Justice.

“I'm taking her somewhere tonight,” says George, 63, when asked on the red carpet how the two are celebrating. Prompting Amal, 46, to smile, he adds, “but she doesn't know where.”

The Oscar winner’s mystery date presumably took place after The Albies, which were held at the New York Public Library. For the occasion, George kept things classic with a tailored black tuxedo, white shirt and black bowtie, while the British human rights lawyer wore a black, floor-length Versace gown with a sweetheart neckline.

Named after Justice Albie Sachs for his role in ending apartheid in South Africa, the Clooneys’ star-studded event aims to "shine a protective spotlight on courageous justice defenders who are at risk — sending a message to those who abuse human rights that the world is watching," per its official website.

“I would support anything my wife is involved in,” George tells PEOPLE of the award show. “She’s always on the right side of history, and I’m always so proud to be in the same room with her no matter what.”

The third annual Albies, he adds, “get to focus all the attention on the people who don’t get enough attention.” For a couple who have made defending justice the mission of the foundation they founded in 2016, a night honoring social justice warriors may be the perfect anniversary date night.

George and Amal were married in Italy in 2014 in high style. At Venice’s historic Aman Canal Grande hotel with 100 close friends and family, the two exchanged vows in a traditional ceremony presided over by their friend, former Rome mayor Walter Veltroni.

“It feels pretty damn great,” George told PEOPLE at the time of becoming a husband.
