The genius rocking chair parents can't get enough of

A rocking chair with an attached bassinet is making waves online, with the design labelled ‘genius’.

US online furniture retailer Karla DuBois previewed the new design to their Instagram page back in April, and the response was overwhelming.

The innovative piece consists of an upholstered traditional rocking chair attached to a bassinet.

The two rock together, allowing parents to rock their child to sleep while getting an often much-needed break themselves.

It also allows a held baby to be transferred seamlessly to their crib without risking the bumping, bustling trip that too often results in the bub waking up.

The ensemble retails for US$599, or approximately $850.

“The design gives the parents the possibility of rocking their child safely in a comfortable environment and giving them the capability to be hands-free to hold a book or a bottle,” the website reads.

“The breathable mesh, soft upholstered fabric and rocking motion is ideal for a happy baby. When they get too big for the cradle, you can remove it from the rocker and used the detached cradle leg to form a rocker.”

The US-based designer is not yet shipping to Australia but a few hopefuls are trying to catch the organisation’s eye in hopes of sparking a new distribution.

Instagram fans have readily voiced their approval of the eye-catching ensemble.

“How cool is this!” one woman wrote.

“I want this when our family gets bigger!” another woman wrote.

According to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, a key safety requirement for a bassinet is that it’s base be stable.

“Ensure it has a wide stable base and a sturdy bottom so that it won’t tip over,” their website reads.

“If the product has folding legs, make sure it cannot accidentally fold during use.”
