This genius moving hack will save you a world of heartache

There is nothing worse than that sinking feeling you get after moving house, and you pick up a box to unpack only to hear something rattling inside that shouldn’t be.

It’s a common dilemma. How do we best pack up our breakables – think kitchen plates, bowls etc – to make sure that they make it to the next destination in one piece.

Well one person has seemingly come up with a genius and oh-so-simple solution, and it’s received an influx of praise online.

Sharing photos online, a woman revealed her partner had suggested using vacuum bags to seal plates and bowls before putting them into the boxes.

“We were in the process of packing and moving when my partner said ‘what if we put the plates and bowls and other breakables in a vacuum bag so they don’t rattle around’,” she shared in a post to a Facebook group.

“We experimented and it works. Genius. Saves on packing paper, bubble wrap and newspaper.”

She went on to explain that they simple put paper towels between the plates before sealing a stack in the bags. And only used three vacuum bags for all her dinnerware. She then still packed everything into Kmart crates.

The post quickly received hundreds of comments.

“That’s awesome, tell him thanks,” was one grateful response.

“And you can reuse them,” another added.
