“General Hospital” will reunite Genie Francis' Laura with Jonathan Jackson's Lucky

The mother-son duo will be reunited onscreen for the first time since 2015.

Mark your calendars, because General Hospital is about to host its very own Spencer family reunion.

Genie Francis, who has starred as the legendary Laura Spencer since 1977, will officially make her return to the ABC soap opera beginning next week, Entertainment Weekly has learned. The move will see the Daytime Emmy award-winning actress reunited for scenes with her onscreen son Lucky, played by Jonathan Jackson, for the first time since 2015.

EW has reached out to a representative for General Hospital for comment.

Over the last 47 years, Francis has appeared in over 1700 episodes of General Hospital across her multiple stints on the show. Her character Laura is best known for her relationship with Luke Spencer (Anthony Geary), with the pair going on to become one of the show’s most beloved supercouples. While Luke and Laura ultimately went their separate ways, they welcomed two onscreen children together throughout their marriage: son Lucky and daughter Lulu.

Back in June, it was announced that Jackson would be reprising his role as Lucky for what was described as a long stint on the show. The five-time Daytime Emmy award-winner has played Luke and Laura's son since 1993, when he made his television debut on the series at just 11 years old. While he originally departed the series in 1999, Jackson has returned to Port Charles for short stints on the show in both 2009 and 2015.

Speaking with TV Insider last month, Jackson revealed that the Lucky that viewers will meet this season is "the most like Luke that he’s ever been" in his entire life.

"In 2010 when I came back, he was a cop and he was trying to create an identity for himself, and in some ways in opposition to his father," he explained. "I don’t exactly know where he is now because we’re just kind of beginning but it just feels like he’s become a little bit more like his father as time has gone on."
