Gabrielle Union, a native of Omaha, was the guest picker on College GameDay on Saturday morning in Lincoln along with her husband, NBA legend Dwyane Wade.

In the lead-up to the show, Union took to Twitter to ask what Huskers jersey she should wear. Soon after, she heard from Christian Gaylord, a senior offensive lineman for the Huskers.

He shared a photo of a Nebraska jersey that his father Scott would wear to games. Scott Gaylord died in a car crash last week, and Christian told Union that “it would be an honor” if she wore his father’s jersey.

Union quickly reciprocated her interest and when she emerged from the GameDay bus on Saturday morning, she was wearing the Gaylord No. 65 jersey.

Once she reached the set, Union explained why she was wearing that particular jersey. And, of course, she picked the Huskers to upset Ohio State later Saturday night.

Pretty cool.

Gaylord is currently rehabbing a torn ACL, so he won’t play in the game. He could return to the team in 2020 if the NCAA grants him a medical redshirt.
