Is this the future of food delivery?
Ever have those nights where no one can agree on what to order for dinner? Perhaps someone is keen on Italian while another person wants a burger and then throw a vegetarian in the mix and well… it all just seems too difficult to decide.
Well thankfully, this is all about to change as Deliveroo introduces it’s new ‘Food Market’ system where customers can now select dishes from different restaurants all and have them all delivered in the same order.
Launching in Collingwood, Melbourne, Deliveroo has now opened the doors for big-name restaurants to cook offsite in the new Editions ‘super kitchen’ where food is made specifically for delivery orders only.
Consisting of nine kitchens, the new site will be occupied by chefs from various cuisines and restaurants currently including Sydney’s iconic Fishbowl and favourites such as Royal Stacks burgers, Sauced Italian, Los Hermanos Mexican Taqueria, The Moor’s Head, as well as dessert classics, Messina and Pat n Stick’s.
So those living near Melbourne’s inner-east can now order burgers, tacos, poke, ice-cream and more and more all within one order; no compromise necessary.
But don’t worry, there are still plenty of reasons for the rest of us to get excited, as Country manager Levi Aron revealed to Yahoo Lifestyle that there is already plans in the works to expand the food market concept across the rest of Australia.
“Innovation is at the heart of what we do here at Deliveroo and with Collingwood Editions we are redefining the food landscape yet again,” Levi says.
“We are definitely looking to expand nationally… once we gather the data from here in terms of what works well, what doesn’t and how we can make the supply chain as efficient as possible, we will bring that to locations across Sydney and Brisbane and hopefully tap into the Perth market in due time.”
And the ideas aren’t stopping there, along with introducing the option for Click & Collect services, Levi hints that Deliveroo is looking at ways to tailor delivery offerings to corporate offices as well.
“At the end of the day customers want more choice, so it’s about providing the people what they want, collaborating with our partners to create exciting new options and doing so at the lowest price possible.”
Essentially restaurants that partner with Deliveroo Editions have the benefit of testing their products in new markets without the cost of setting up bricks and mortar restaurant while brands are also leveraging this opportunity by launching their own ‘virtual brands’ offering new food creations available for delivery only.
So not only is this service allowing restaurants to expand to new areas and reach customers they couldn’t reach before but it also brings more choice and personalisation for us as food-loving consumers who can’t make up our minds.
Sounds pretty good, right?
The future of food service is officially looking bright and honestly, we can’t wait.
