Hulu has renewed Futurama for two more seasons, ahead of season 12's debut in 2024.
Following the critical acclaim of its reboot in 2022, bosses have revived the animated series for 20 new episodes on the streaming service. A premiere date for seasons 13 and 14 have yet to be announced.
Futurama follows pizza delivery boy Philip J. Fry, who accidentally freezes himself before getting thawed a thousand years later. The show has amassed a loyal tribe of fans since its premiere in 1999. Their support ultimately sparked the idea for the show's iconic return, 10 years on from when it last aired.
Fans were treated to the resolution of various longstanding storylines including "the epic love story of Fry and Leela, the contents of Nibbler's litter box, the secret history of evil Robot Santa, and the whereabouts of Kif and Amy's tadpoles".
Ahead of the series' renewal, Futurama boss Claudia Katz spoke exclusively with Digital Spy to share how the show's return offers a new perspective.
"Though we have our original cast back, we have some new writers and artists who bring their own fresh perspective which has been a nice addition," she said. "Those of us who have been around from the beginning may have different lives than before, partners, kids, etc. It's impossible not to be influenced by what is going on around you, personally and professionally."
Katz is surely over the moon at the confirmation of seasons 13 and 14, after previously sharing her hope for the show's longevity, saying: "The reaction to the new episodes has been exceptional, and we're all hoping they order more. There are so many great stories left to tell!"
