Frasier reboot: Kelsey Grammer returns but revival won’t be set in Seattle
Frasier Crane, it would appear, has re-entered the building and is set for a revival as Kelsey Grammer will be reprising his role as the snobby yet loveable character.
The show ran for 11 years and won an impressive 37 Primetime Emmys in its time.
Paramount+ confirmed the new version of Frasier on Thursday, February 2, also teasing a new location for the character with a hint of nostalgia.
Where will the Frasier reboot be set?
It has been confirmed the Frasier sequel will return to where it all began, back to his original Cheers days in Boston, Massachusetts.
The character’s new location was revealed in a social media post by Paramount+, which included mocked-up tickets showing Frasier Crane’s details on a flight from Seattle to Boston.

Cheers and Frasier Crane
The TV show Cheers was where we were introduced to the character of Frasier, a role which earned four Emmys for Grammer.
The character was only meant to appear for a few episodes but Grammer’s performance impressed producers so much it prompted them to expand his role and created the spin-off of Frasier.
There is still no official word whether the character will be revisiting his old watering hole or if any past Boston buddies may appear but there was official confirmation about another link to that era.
Director James Burrows has been confirmed for the first two episodes of Frasier.
Burrows co-created Cheers and is also the “most nominated director in the history of television”.
Grammer will executive produce along with writers Chris Harris of How I Met Your Mother fame and Life in Pieces’ Joe Cristalli, and the first episode is being taped in front of a live studio audience in Los Angeles.
Who will return from the original Frasier cast?
Grammer is the only original Frasier star confirmed to return for the reboot.
Alongside starring in the titular role, Grammer will serve as an executive producer for the series.
Who will star in the Frasier reboot?
The Frasier sequel will have many new characters including Jack Cutmore-Scott as Frasier’s son, Freddy; Nicholas Lyndhurst as Frasier’s old college buddy and now university professor Alan; Toks Olagundoye as Alan’s colleague and head of the university psychology department Olivia; Jess Salguerio as Freddy’s roommate, Eve, and Anders Keith as Frasier’s nephew, David.
Grammer recently confirmed that Lyndhurst will star in the revival, calling him a gifted comic actor after they appeared on stage together in Man of La Mancha at the London Coliseum in 2019.
When will the Frasier reboot be shown?
The Frasier revival release date has yet to be officially confirmed but is expected to be available for streaming in late 2023.
Grammer had hinted that shooting began in late 2022 with more details expected soon.
The Frasier reboot will be available in the UK on Apple TV.
