Former Biggest Loser star dies at 30

Daniel Wright, a former contestant on the US version of The Biggest Loser, has lost his battle with cancer.

Daniel was 30 years old and had been diagnosed Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) at the end of 2017.

His family set up a GoFundMe page at the time to help pay for his care and treatment, and just last week, his wife Rebecca told their supporters that he had taken a turn for the worse.

Former Biggest Loser contestants have taken to social media to share tributes and remember Daniel for his fighting spirit.

“Daniel’s light has always been one of Grace, encouragement, wisdom, love and honor throughout the time I have known him,” Danny Cahill, who competed in the same season as Daniel, said. “And I can honestly say that because of him I am a better man.”

“I am so so heartbroken to hear about Daniel Wright this morning,” Courtney Crozier Respess from season 11, wrote on Facebook. “He has fought SO HARD during his battle with cancer & more. This man is one of the kindest people I have ever met & is a true difference maker in this world!”

Daniel was 28 when he was diagnosed with ALL, a form of Leukemia that affects the blood and bone marrow, and needed to undergo intensive chemotherapy and surgery.

The latest update on his GoFundMe page was posted four months ago said he had returned to work and was about to begin a two year course of maintenance chemotherapy.

Daniel and wife Rebecca competed together in season eight of The Biggest Loser where they lost a combined total of 110kg.
