  • Cooking time: 10-15

Ingredients

450g self-raising flour
1 tbs castor sugar
80g butter
250mL milk
Extra self-raising flour

Method

1. Mix the castor sugar, the butter and flour in a bowl.
2. Make sure you’ve washed your hands, then work your fingers through the mixture to create a breadcrumb-like consistency. And if you make sure your butter is at room temperature then the mixture will be even better!
3. If you want to add some extra flavour to your scones, put some currants into a saucepan and heat them up for around five minutes. Make sure you get a grown-up to help you with this. Drain the water and let them cool. Now add in the currants.
4. Add milk and stir it through. Just don’t mix for too long.
5. Use your hands to knead the dough gently about four or five times on a floured bench.
6. Use a rolling pin to flatten the dough to about 2cm thick. Now use a cutter to cut out the scones. 7. Put your flattened scone cut-outs on a greased baking tray and glaze them with a little milk on top of each. Get a grown up to help you put them in the oven at 220⁰C. They should be ready in just 10-15 minutes or when they are golden.
