This is what the world's longest pizza looks like

After 11 hours of baking, the world’s longest pizza has come to life.

It took a 400-person team of dedicated chefs to make the 1.8 kilometres pizza that casually stretched along the Italian coast of Naples.

The Guinness World Record Neapolitan-style pizza was made using locally sourced ingredients from the Campania region, the "home of pizza," according to the record books.

If you can fathom this, it took 2.2 tons of flour, 2.2 tons of mozzarella cheese, 1600 kilograms of tomato sauce, 200 litres of olive oil, and 30 kilograms of fresh basil.

Five motorised wood-fired ovens on wheels rolled down the length of the giant pizza and once it was complete and the record was confirmed, onlookers were lucky enough to snatch a slice (books flight to Italy now), while the leftovers went to those in need.

The perfectly cooked pizza outstretched its predecessor by two and a half metres of deliciousness and mustn't ever be confused with the world’s largest pizza, which apparently spans two football fields.

Could there ever be too much pizza?
