According to Business Insider who received a press release from the fast food giant, the chips are seasoned with locally grown Gilroy garlic in California - a place known as “The Garlic Capital of the World.”

The new menu item is part of a wider trend at McDonald’s “to experiment with regional flavours and food on its menu,” the press release states.

Unfortunately these cheesy garlic fries are only available in four San Francisco Macca's restaurants at the moment but the franchise is hoping to roll them out in 250 restaurants in California by August.
