Tired of taking hundreds of photos of a dish and never getting the one perfect image you were hoping for?

Well, now you can.

Since February, Israel’s Carmel Wineries together with Tel Aviv restaurant Catit have been working on a series of live dining events and workshops called Foodography that cater for those who love to capture and share their meals on Instagram.

Carmel Wineries, one of Israel’s oldest, wanted to come up with a fresh and innovative way the brand could connect with the most influential generations of our time, the young foodies with smartphones at their fingertips.

To ensure the photos would be Instagram-worthy and as photogenic as possible, Catit’s head chef Meir Adoni designed a five-course dinner up to Michelin Star standards.

The dining experience was inspired by the colour and concept of red wine and showcases hard-to-source ingredients, all presented in unique ways for the most appetising photo to be hastagged #fdgr, short for Foodography, on Instagram.

It gets better. Carmel Wineries also worked with ceramic artist Adi Nissani to design two first-of-a-kind plates.

The 360-dish is a revolving platform that spins around to ensure videos can capture every angle and ingredient displayed.

Then there's the Limbo-dish that has a high backdrop that eliminates any background interference and has a built-in slot for your phone, enabling a focused, high quality, flawless image every shot.

For the ultimate dining experience, Dan Perez, one of Israel’s top food photographers, hosts a live smartphone, food photography workshop for the Instagram-obsessed attendees.

It is an interactive, fun and unique way for foodies and food photographers of all levels to learn photography tips and tricks from a guru and trial out different techniques focused around the two dishes.

To inspire guests further, Michelin Star chefs, wine critics and local food bloggers attend the events to engage with diners and talk about their experience with food photography online.

Carmel Wineries plans to expand the concept internationally to reach more influential youths obsessed with sharing foodie experiences via social media.

With the #foodporn hashtag clocking in over 50 million tags, it doesn’t seem likely that this food trend is going anywhere anytime soon.
